M19 Collective

I have been working with the Levenshulme based multi-disciplinary arts collective M19 for over six months and together we have curated and taken part in exhibitions, developed community art projects and workshops and are continuing to explore our ideas and create new exhibitions and experiences around the levenshulme and wider Manchester area.

Contravention

Contravention
Music: Joe Galen

This piece is a video accompaniment for musician Joe Galen’s song Contravention. Set in a theatre the film focuses on a Magpie who is resurrected and moved by several players. These creatures mimic the magpie, both in dress and action and create a false impression of life with their puppetry. It is both a macabre dance of death and an expression of losing control, but in the end there is hope as the bird escapes the constraints of the stage.
